After you’ve created your first design and product feed, the next step will be to import this into your Facebook Ad Manager to start using the customizable designs, instead of white-background packshots.
This guide will take you through the Facebook Ad Manager to make sure your new creatives replace the old packshots, without losing any valuable optimization data.
The feed provided by Confect will update automatically if there’s any changes in your data source, such as price or availability, and also if you decide to change the design.
The first step is to go into “Automations” and “Product Feeds” inside Confect. Here, you have to click on the feed you want to use and click “Copy Feed URL” right below the design example.
Through this feed URL, Confect will push all the designs and all product information to your Ad Manager.
First, go to your Ad Manager, either through the business.facebook.com link, or any way you prefer.
Make sure you have the correct business selected at the top-left of the screen, if you are managing more than one company account.
Click on the “All tools” menu, and click “Commerce Manager”. This is where you can see all the catalogs being used for this business.
Scroll down to “Catalogs” and select the catalog you want to replace, in case you have more than one.
If you don’t have a catalog, you can create a new one, however, it’s better to replace the data source in an existing catalog to not lose any optimization data (the Facebook learning curve).
Inside the Commerce Manager for the right business and catalog, click on “Data sources”.
Click on the “Data feed” this catalog is currently using.
Go into “Settings”.
Inside “Schedules” you will be able to see the data source this catalog is using at the moment. This is what we need to replace to get the new Confect creatives to Facebook.
Click on the menu in “Replace schedule” (on the right side) and select “Edit”.
Now, delete the current URL in the “URL” field, and paste in the Confect feed URL you’ve copied in the first step.
We recommend you set the “Frequency and time” to “Hourly”, as this is how often Confect updates any changes to your data source.
Leave the username and password empty.
Finally, click “Save”.
To get the images to update right now, click on “Request update now” under “Schedules”, and wait for the changes to load.
This may take anywhere from 2 to 20 minutes, depending on the number of products.
Go into “Items” and preview all your new, beautiful images.
As you can see, the only thing that Confect changes are the images themselves. All the product information will be the same as in the data source you’ve entered into Confect.
Anytime you’d like to adjust the design, you can do this directly inside Confect, without changing the URL in Facebook Manager.
Congrats! You’re now ready to start running much better, and eye-catching Dynamic Product Ads campaigns.
