How does the background removal process work?

If your data source setting is set to "Packshots / Mix", our system processes your data feed and removes the backgrounds from the main images (image_link).

Only product images with no models and a solid color background can have their backgrounds removed - the product will not be cut out from on-model images and from lifestyle photographs (i.e. if the item is placed in an environment with other objects).

Timeline

The item will show "Status: Waiting" until the background removal is finished.

To maintain a high quality, human moderators manually approve each image (or make the necessary corrections to the process) to catch any errors in the AI background removal.

The time it takes to remove backgrounds successfully depends on a few factors, such as product colors, shadows, the level of detail in the image, and its background.

Generally, you can expect the background removal to be finished within 1-3 days, varying based on the number of products and the complexity of the image.
